Happy New Year to all!
As I, Mary Anne, contemplate 2013, intuitively, I feel good. I feel this year is going to be a year of plenty, a year of reaping the rewards for all the hard work we’ve put into our efforts. If you ask me why I feel this way, I can’t give you a definitive answer, and those of you who know me know that I’m by no means Pollyannaish by nature, but I feel possibility in my bones. Maybe this is an outrageous point of view, but what’s wrong with a little outrageousness in our lives, and our businesses. Transform clients have done well over that last few years. They’ve grown market share, and have been steady in their commitment to investing in their biggest assets — their people. They have been stretched, and they have won. Some would say they haven’t been cautious enough, but the bottom line shows something quite different- they have made money when others haven’t. It hasn’t been easy, but, they are smart, strategic, and have big hearts.
Ok… back to Outrageous …When you look up the adjectives for outrageous you’ll find “shameful, offensive, extreme, and shocking.” Well, so now I’m really shocked because it seems to me that there’s a place of honor and some courage in being a little outrageous. Maybe there have been times when I’ve been a little too outrageous, but more often, I hold back – do you?
As we walk into 2013, I have a few questions for you and I’d love to hear your answers.
1. What would be outrageous goals for you and your organization to accomplish in 2013?
2. What needs to happen to instill a sense of “outrageousness” in your Company and you?
**Now you know we are not advocating shameful, offensive or highly-risky behavior but goals and behaviors that stretch beyond your comfort zone and instill a sense of “extreme/shocking/out of character” action that is directed toward SMART goals.**
3. What might limit you and your organization from achieving these outrageous goals? What can you do to minimize these limitations?
Here’s to making 2013 an outrageously great year! I know we can do it together.
