“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
– Helen Keller

Now is the time to collaborate and cooperate like never before. We are being required to adapt to a new and constantly changing business reality, one where working together doesn’t look like it did just 6 short months ago. Yet, here we are, and we need to not only make the best of it, we need to find ways to make it work to our advantage. The only way that can happen is if we are both cooperative and collaborative.

Cooperation is simply the process of working together to the same end. To me, being cooperative means being willing to participate. To be genuinely collaborative is a team approach where we are all actively contributing to the outcomes we are looking for. We need both cooperation and collaboration.

It takes great leadership to foster an environment that appreciates and understands the value of these skills. We business types need to be an example in the world right now. As the great Michael Jordan says, “Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.”

So, how’s it going with your teams these days? Do you have the necessary levels of both cooperation and collaboration necessary to win in these unprecedented times?

If you do, fantastic! If you believe there’s room for improvement, give us a call to see how we can help. We’re all in this together.
