Isn’t it great when we have a gold medal day?

Not every day is going be a gold medal day whether you are an Olympian or a salesperson. If our entire focus is on winning every time, closing the big deal every time, taking on every project and giving it 100% every time, this can actually get in the way of winning.

Elite Olympians make enormous sacrifices and train grueling hours for years for what may be that once-in-a-lifetime chance to win the gold  – or even just participate – in an event that may last only minutes. When they step into the starting box or skate onto the ice, if they are focused only on the medal, only on the outcome of “winning,” they may miss the actual moment and therefore miss the mark.

Missing the moment makes us lose clarity, makes us lose our emotional balance, makes us ungrounded – derails us. The sign of a true Olympian – and an elite salesperson – is not only having the technical skills to win the event but also the emotional and physical intelligence to regain the moment.

So where’s your focus right now?

Do you know when you’re in the moment?

Do you know how to recover when you lose it (as we all do)?

Do you know how to support yourself as you “train”?

How have you “trained” for your next big win?

Let us know. We’d love to hear from you. And if you need help going for the gold, we’re a phone call away.
