Public speaking can be a career necessity. Surveys also have shown it is the number one fear in America. People surveyed would rather face heights, spiders, or even death than get up in front of an audience and verbally deliver information. When they do speak in public, about 75% of the population suffers some degree of speech anxiety – from slight nervousness, butterflies in the stomach, and dry mouth to shaking, sweating, quavering voice, and out-and-out panic.
